You must take a back-up of all your personnel items and other important data.
Please ensure that all your security suites, like firewall and antivirus, on you Sony Xperia Play as well as on computer must be disabled.
You must enable USB Debugging mode on your Sony Xperia Play. Just follow, Settings–>Applications–>Development–>USB debugging. There select the USB Debugging icon.
Steps to be followed to unlock bootloader of Sony Xperia Play:
First you must ensure that the bootloader can be unlocked on your device or not. Open up the Dialer of your Sony Xperia Play and type *#*#7378423#*#* to open up the service menu.
Now go to Service Info then to Configuration and at last to Rooting Status. Now if the bootloader unlocking is allowed then you can unlock the bootloader of your Sony Xperia Play otherwise not.
Download the Fastboot and ADB package and extract it.
Now install the drivers of your Sony Xperia Play manually.
Open the Sony Ericsson’s unlock bootloader site and then click on continue.
Now, click on “Yes I’m sure”.
Now, click on both checkboxes and click on “I accept”.
Create an unlock request by filling the Name, IMEI No. and Email id. IMEI no. can be found using dialer of your Sony Xperia Play. Just type *#06# and you’ll get the IMEI no.
Now click on Submit and you’ll get an Unlock Key.
Now open up the run_me.bat file. Inside the CMD you’ll see some code. Like:
fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xKEY
Replace the word “KEY” with the unlock key you received earlier. And your Sony Xperia Play will be unlocked. For Example:
fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0x726802F75671552D
So you’ve successfully unlocked the bootloader of your Sony Xperia Play.
